The above link entitled "how our csa works" will give you specifics about the waterbear csa

What is a CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. A member of a CSA will pay the farmer at the beginning of the season for a weekly delivery of veggies, meats, eggs, and fruits. This allows the farmer to focus on growing a wide variety of crops, pick them at the best time and give the member a cheaper than retail price without incurring a large start up debt in a very risky business.
The farmer has a gaurunteed sale and a direct relationship with the consumer/member. The member gets locally grown food that they know is grown in their region especially for them without the retail mark up.  It's a mutually beneficial arrangement.

2013 marks our fifth year offering a Community Supported Agriculture Program and providing food for over 100 members. Our produce and meats can also be found at Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op, The Harvest Moon and Sweet Providence Farm Market, Eats and Annie Kay's Natural Food Store.

How Our CSA Works      Please read carefully
Signing Up: We accept new members on a first come, first served basis, and use the date we receive the registration form and deposit. We advise joining as soon as possible after february 1st. We are accepting 80 members who will receive the 2013 harvest.  Although you may sign-up at any time throughout the season, priority is given to returning members and folks who send in their pre-season payment by March 31st.   Pre-payment is encouraged as it provides the working capital needed to purchase seeds, compost, equipment and pay salaries for work that begins before the first vegetable harvest. If you are unable to pre-pay for the season we have set up a 2 payment option.

Picking Up Produce:
This is where our CSA differs from most CSA's.

For the Roanoke & Blacksburg pick-up sites we offer a buffet style pick-up:
Each member gets a Waterbear Mountain reusable fabric bag, this bag is approximately the size of a large paper grocery bag. When it is full it equals one regular share.
The mini share holders get a smaller bag, about 2/3 the size of the regular.
We bring all the food to the pick-up site, spread it out on a large table and members fill there bags with whatever they want. Sometimes we have extras that we offer beyond your share bag.

We do not decide what goes in your bag, you do. You pick and choose from our weekly bounty, and simply fill your bag.  Some items such as strawberries and asparagus may have a limit as to how many you can take. All members will have a 2 hour window to pick up their produce at the buffet. If you are unable to pick-up your share, you can have a friend or family member pick-up your share in your name. We will leave your share, boxed at the site, for you to pick up after we have departed or the next day if you call the pick-up site person.

We will deliver for 28 weeks, the first delivery will be May 15th and 16th, the last delivery will be the third week of November. We may decide to add additional weeks, however this decision will be made at the beginning of November depending on the Fall crop yields.

For the Radford, Pulaski and Floyd members:   You will receive a pre-packed share. These members will not be able to choose the contents of their bag, but will receive a nice fresh selection approximately the size of a large paper grocery bag. We create shares based on volume not wieght or count.

Produce You Can Expect:  WE HAVE A PROVEN RECORD OF SHOWING UP EVERY WEEK WITH LOTS OF FOOD ALL GROWN ON OUR FARM. In May and June we will have Asparagus, Spinach, Salad Mix, Carrots, Lettuce, Kale, Spring Onions, Cabbage, Beets & Broccoli. Some of these items will grow into July, and we will have Summer Squash, Cucumbers, Green Beans, Sweet Corn, Tomatoes, Peppers, Onions, Garlic, Snap Peas, Egg Plant, Potatoes, Cilantro, Basil, Celery, Swiss Chard, Melon and More. These Summer crops will continue all through August, September, and a bit of October. The Fall Season will bring back Spinach, Cabbage, Carrots, Broccoli, and a variety of Greens, as well as Sweet Potatoes, Butternut and Delicata Winter Squash.

In addition to the vegetables: we will bring frozen chickens, eggs,  beef and pork cuts to the pick-up sites in Roanoke and Blacksburg. You may purchase these on site, or to receive a discount you can purchase a 'share' of meat, see details below.

Order Meat: On the Registration Form there is an option to order a share of Waterbear farm raised beef or pork. When you buy a share of beef or pork you get a significant discount. Our animals are raised on our farm, they are free ranged, grass fed on organically managed pastures and finished on certified organic grains prior to harvesting.  The chickens are raised by Sweet Providence Farm, they are free ranged and grain fed. We will bring chickens to the pick-up sites for members to purchase.
