We began farming here at Waterbear Mountain in 1993, and became certified organic in 1995. We produce over 30 different vegetables, herbs and small fruits. Our farm includes 7 acres under cultivation, 12 acres of pasture, and 80 acres of sustainably harvested timber.
We cultivate soils and plants in time with the moon cycles and natural rhythms using biodynamic and certified organic farming practices. Biodynamic methods stimulate and enhance biological activity in a positive way. With the use of special "preparations" (such as prepared manure, silica-rich rock powder, herbs, and other plant materials in combination with compost), thus our produce takes on increased vitality and resistance to disease.
We are currently the largest organic farm in the New River Valley, and are locally known for growing some of the best-tasting produce in the area. You can find our produce at Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op, the Harvest Moon and Sweet Providence Farm Market both in Floyd, Eats and Annie Kay's in Blacksburg. We also provide Seven Springs Farm's CSA with spinach, cabbage, and lettuce. We are in our third year offering our own Community Supported Agriculture program. For more information on this please click on CSA. We hope you will try out our produce, we think you'll enjoy it, as we do our very best to bring you wholesome, delicious, fresh, organic, local veggies. From our garden to your table.
ALOHA!
